Prior to joining Schatz Development as General Counsel, Andrew Porter worked for 15 years as a commercial litigator in New York and Chicago. During that time, he prosecuted and defended complex matters of all types, including securities and consumer fraud class actions, real estate acquisition, development, and leasing disputes, and trade secrets and insurance coverage claims. Andrew has tried cases in state and federal courts and in industry arbitration venues. He is presently a member of the bars of the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology, cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1985 and graduated with a juris doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1990. In between, he briefly attended medical school at George Washington University. Following law school, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable James C. Cacheris in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
